Incentives
In the Quality Partner Program, it pays to deliver good quality cocoa – well-fermented, well-dried, well-cleaned.
Higher prices for better cocoa
There are clear economic incentives for cooperatives participating in the Quality Partner Program and their farmer members to deliver quality beans.
Barry Callebaut pays cooperatives a higher price for well-dried beans. An additional premium is paid for well-cleaned beans. A batch of well-cleaned beans is defined as having less than 1% of foreign matter.
In addition, Barry Callebaut pays an extra premium to cooperatives at the end of each harvest cycle if the volumes and average quality of the beans delivered fulfill certain defined quality criteria. These 3 factors combined can enable cooperatives to earn significantly above standard prices for good quality cocoa.
