Goh medical center
To improve access to healthcare services for cocoa farming families, Barry Callebaut helped fund a medical center in Goh.
Serving the community
Barry Callebaut inaugurated a medical center in Goh village in October 2008. The center is located in an important cocoa growing region about 85 kilometers north of San Pedro in Ivory Coast. Some 18,000 people live in the surrounding communities.
The center was built in partnership with UCAS, a cooperative union that is a member of the Quality Partner Program. A full-time nurse and midwife provide basic medical services and maternity care.
In addition to the buildings used to provide medical services, Barry Callebaut built 2 houses for the medical staff and also installed a water well on the premises to serve the community.
