Common vision
Solange N’Guessan is Director of the Union des Coopératives Agricoles de San Pedro (UCAS) in Ivory Coast. About 20 cooperatives belong to the UCAS union. For several years, UCAS has supplied more than half of the cocoa delivered by its farmer members to Barry Callebaut.
Solange N’Guessan comments on the long relationship with Barry Callebaut:
“We joined the Quality Partner Program not only because Barry Callebaut paid us well, but because we have a common vision. We want to work together with exporters who, just like us, want to contribute to the development of local cocoa farmers, because our main aim is to increase the income and quality of life of the farmers.”
