Quality cocoa for a better life
The Quality Partner Program – QPP – was developed by Barry Callebaut, the world’s largest cocoa and chocolate manufacturer, and our subsidiary Societé Africaine de Cacao (SACO) in Ivory Coast in 2005.
It began as a program focused on the quality of cocoa beans and evolved into a cocoa sustainability program to enable and encourage farmers to grow and produce cocoa in a sustainable and responsible way, increase yields as a result of farmer training thus resulting in higher income and increased livelihood, and improve access to education and basic healthcare services.
Today, Quality Cocoa for a Better Life represents a sustainable chocolate and cocoa product sold by Barry Callebaut to support cocoa sustainability on the ground. As our program and products evolve, QPP is being succeeded by HORIZONS products and support the Cocoa Horizons Foundation. The Foundation's cocoa sustainability activities fall under the pillars of Productivity and Community Development, and are intended to better scale impact and help drive change throughout the cocoa industry.
Working with rural communities to improve education opportunities, protect children, empower women, and provide safe water and basic health services.
The mission of the Cocoa Horizons Foundation is to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities through the promotion of sustainable, entrepreneurial farming, improved productivity, and community development.
