“Providing basic but vital healthcare services is one way we try to make a positive difference in farming communities.” Jean-Ponce Assi, Secretary General, Barry Callebaut SACO
Improving access to basic healthcare
Poor health conditions, a shortage of clean water, malnutrition and diseases including malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS can have devastating repercussions on families in rural farming communities in Africa. Children are especially at risk.
Barry Callebaut assists cooperatives to meet some of the basic healthcare needs of their farmer members. Our key areas of focus are improving access to clean water, sanitation in schools, and basic health services. We sponsor and distribute insecticide-treated mosquito nets, medical kits, and vaccination campaigns throughout the year.
