Quality chocolate starts with the cocoa bean
At Barry Callebaut, we take extra care to ensure that the cocoa we buy from our participating Quality Partner Program cooperatives matches our exacting quality requirements.
The emphasis on quality begins in our dialogue with cooperative representatives and with farmers.
In Farmer Field Schools, farmers learn how the quality of cocoa beans can be improved through sound production and harvesting practices and by proper fermentation and drying.
Cooperatives are guided on how to integrate quality standards into their business processes. The quality of the cocoa delivered by farmers is checked at the collection centers run and managed by the QPP member cooperatives.
Barry Callebaut pays a premium to QPP cooperatives who deliver cocoa that meets our quality specifications.
